Usage

Vapor Suppressor is specifically designed for the removal of mercury (Hg), which is difficult to remove by other absorbents including standard activated carbon.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

HOW TO USE VAPOR SUPPRESSOR: 1. Evacuate employees from the spill area. 2. Wear personal protective equipment compatible with chemicals involved. 3. Ventilate the contaminated area. 4. Remove any potential sources of flames, sparks, etc. 5. Position pads on outer edge of spill for containment. 6. Sprinkle Vapor Suppressor onto the spilled area. Making sure the Vapor Suppressor is extended beyond the actual spill and that the top layer contains no wet spots. 7. Allow the flammable liquid to soak in. Remove the Vapor Suppressor by using NON-SPARKING and ANTI-STATIC equipment. 8. Place used Vapor Suppressor into an approved disposal container. 9. Dispose of all used articles (used Vapor Suppressor, PPE, disposal container, etc.) according to local, state and federal regulations. Rule of Thumb: Vapor Suppressor absorption capacity depends on the concentration level of the liquid. You may use 10% as a guide. So, if you have a 1 gallon (3.8 liter) spill (average 8# per gallon or 3.6kg per liter) you will need approximately 80 pounds (36.29 kg) of Vapor Suppressor to absorb the spill. CAUTION: Do not use Vapor Suppressor on powdered aluminum or strong oxidizers (e.g., ozone, liquid oxygen, chlorine, peroxide, permanganate, nitric acid and ketone) as contact may result in fire. Avoid contact with high concentrations of ketone (e.g., Acetone, Methyl Ethyl Ketone, ect.) in air or liquid. Do not use this product onammonium and ammonia containing compounds as contact will cause generation of gases. WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: All SPILFYTER® Sorbents in themselves are considered to be nonhazardous as defined by RCRA (40 CFR 261). Once used, these products will take on the characteristics of the chemical sorbed and should be disposed accordingly. Disposal of these products (used and unused) must be in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
